Blackwater Sprite

We are selling a beautiful 1940’s clinker-built Blackwarer Sprite. She has been epoxied and comes with relatively new Lonton & Gray racing sails along with racing rigging, spinnaker, and jib poles. Club yard fees paid till end of year. happy to deliver around Essex or Suffolk either by road or pickup by sea if you’re on the Blackwater, and I’ll deliver the trailer separately. The Sprite is a 14′ clinker-built, centre-board, half-decked sailing dinghy and was originally designed as a one-class racing dinghy for West Mersea Yacht club. Some of the exposed woodwork could use a fresh varnish next season. I’ve included this in the pictures below. This boat comes with a recent sturdy full cover along with a combi trailer and spare wheel.

There is a well-maintained website, spriteclass.uk, supporting the class and world championships are regularly held around the Blackwater. This is an exceptional clinker dinghy with a long racing pedigree.

The SPRITE Class was designed by Robert N. Stone in I937 as a fast day sailing boat for general use which could also be raced as a class. The boats are fast and well-mannered and may be sailed without sitting out in most conditions. There is a good club racing scene at Blackwater Sailing Club. Club yard fees paid till end of year.
